Brahma Vihara Arama Buddhist Monastery

Not many Buddhist monasteries in Bali Island but Brahmavihara is the biggest Buddhist monastery right here. Actually, this monastery is the largest monastery in Bali. Brahma Vihara Arama Buddhist Monastery was built in 1970 by locals financing by Indonesian also by the Thailand government. It is consecrated in 1972.

The location of Brahma Vihara Arama Bali is in the hill of Tegeha Banjar, Buleleng Bali. You only need 18 minutes driving away from Lovina Beach or approximately 2 hours if you driving by car from Ubud. You can also visit this place after your body treat in Banjar Hot Spring. It might takes 7 minutes driving by car which is the way you back to main city of Bali, Denpasar.

As a Buddhist worship place, this monastery is also a place to meditate. When you are facing to the north you will see the beautiful scenery of the sea with rice paddies view from the top. The quiet and calm atmosphere and the direct view of the sea make this Buddhist monastery become a perfect place of meditation and retreat from the hustle bustle of the city.  There are 5 complexes of building such as Upastha Gara located on the top of the hill on the west, is a comfortable and a quite place. At the east there is Dharmasala room for giving lecture.

This room is also a place for other spiritual activities. Stupa, is a giant bell-like building located at he corner of North West, its wall are made of concrete, carved on relieves that are very interesting. At the northwest, there is a big Bodi that is decorated with relief which is a place of Buddha when reaching the eternal perfection. At Vihara complex there are rooms called Kuti. These rooms are the home stay for monks and student who are studying and a place for monks exercise.
