Lempuyang Temple or Lempuyang Luhur Temple is one of the big and oldest temples in Bali. Lempuyang Temple is also one of six holiest temples in Bali called “Sad Kahyangan Jagad”. Lempuyang Temple is located in the slope of Mount Lempuyang, Karangasem Regency, Bali. It takes about 2 hours to get to Lempuyang Temple from Denpasar.
Lempuyang Temple is located on 1,175 meters above the sea level. The peak of Lempuyang Temple can be reached by a staircase of over 1,700 steps. The perfect precision of the gate in Lempuyang Temple with Mount Agung in the middle makes people willing to take all the steps upstairs and wait in line to take the mesmerizing photo of Lempuyang Temple and Mount Agung combined. This gate is also known with “Gate to Heaven”.
