Menjangan Island: The National Park of West Bali

Menjangan Island: The National Park of West Bali

If you are tired of the cities, parties and crowded places in Kuta, Seminyak, Legian or even Ubud, take yourself to the west side of Bali and feel the different vibes. One of many choices to be visited in West Bali is Menjangan Island in Jembrana Regency.

Menjangan Island is part of Jembrana Regency and included as National Park of West Bali. As the name, Menjangan Island is taken from Menjangan, kind of wild deer that live in the island. It can be said that there are no people who live here. Even now, Menjangan Island does not have too many people and tourists, so if you visit this island, you will find yourself relaxing and chilling in a small island with fresh air, clean beach and the view of mountains in Java because geographically, Menjangan Island is only 1 hour from Banyuwangi, East Java by speedboat.

What you can do in Menjangan Island is not only relaxing. The main point of Menjangan Island is its clear water and natural underwater habitat. So, you can easily be snorkeling in Menjangan Island. You will see many kinds of corals and fishes. Menjangan Island also has many spots to go snorkeling, so you can explore more than one spot if you want. Just remember to not touch the corals and try to catch the fishes in Menjangan Island. It is simply to keep the underwater environment in Menjangan Island clean and natural. We do not want to break the nature, do we? If you are lucky enough you can see sharks, turtles, and some beautiful fishes as well.

Besides the underwater environment, like other places in Bali, Menjangan Island also has some temples. Most of the local people, especially the Hindu, come to Menjangan Island to visit the temples and then relaxing and enjoy the nature of Menjangan Island. You can try to visit Ganesha Temple in Menjangan Island. It is the one with white bricks and a big statue of Ganesha in front of the temple. In front of Ganesha temple is also a good spot to snorkeling, so after or before visiting Ganesha Temple, you can chill and enjoy the underwater view of Menjangan Island.

If you are planning to go to Menjangan Island, do not forget to bring a waterproof bag to keep your electronic devices safe, and a camera that makes you able to take photos underwater. You will not miss the view, right? And you do not need to worry about the accommodation because there are some hotels and homestay to be chosen around Menjangan Island.
